Sea Cloud II
An interesting little cruise ship called into Bergen today; the barque Sea Cloud II.
With over 3,000m^2 of sail area, she is one of a rare breed of square-rigged cruise ships, which turn heads whenever they are in port.
Originally laid down in June 1998, Sea Cloud II didn't have an easy start in life. Numerous shipyard disputes led to lengthy construction and fit-out delays, and it wasn't until 2001 that the ship was finally delivered.
Since then, she has enjoyed a successful career with her German owners Sea Cloud Cruises. Sea Cloud II is 106m long, has a gross tonnage of 3,850 and carries 96 passengers and 63 crew.
Also in town today (and visible in the background) were Silver Cloud and Seabourn Quest.
The following photos show Sea Cloud II alongside at her berth this morning.
