What does $400million buy you? One stunning modern cruise ship...

Today Viking Ocean Cruises' newest ship Viking Sky called into Bergen, where she will stay until her departure on Sunday. Having entered service just 3 months ago in February 2017, her passengers are enjoying the maiden season of this beautiful modern ship.

Registered in Bergen, Viking Sky is the third (along with sisters Viking Star and Viking Sea) in Viking's fast-expanding fleet of luxury ocean cruise ships.

She has a tonnage of 47,800 and her 600-strong crew look after just 930 passengers.

These photos were taken as I passed her both ways on my commute to work, so you can see her as the morning light breaks through the clouds, and also in the full afternoon sunshine. Also in town today was P&O's Arcadia.

MS Midnatsol - Photo Tour

MS Midnatsol is a combined cruise and freight vessel operated by Hurtigruten. Along with her fleetmates she sails the 11-day round trip from Bergen, calling at 34 ports along the coast of Norway. The route is popular with cruise tourists keen to experience 'the most beautiful voyage in the world', and also serves as a lifeline for many smaller communities in Norway's more isolated north. Last week I went on board Fjordline's cruise-ferry Stavangerfjord, for a whistle stop tour of her passenger facilities during her impressively fast turnaround in the city.
