Britannia

P&O cruise ship Britannia on a fjords cruise in Bergen, Norway

Today P&O's flagship Britannia called into Bergen. I was able to watch her sailaway, and took the following photos from the cruise berth at Bontelabo. With sing-along pop music blaring from her loudspeakers her departure was less than subtle, but spirits seemed high as passengers enjoyed the sunny Bergen afternoon.

Britannia was built by Fincantieri in Monfalcone, Italy, and entered service for P&O in March 2015. With a tonnage of 143,730 she is the second-largest ship that will visit Bergen this year (surpassed only by Cunard's Queen Mary 2). Britannia has space for up to 4324 passengers and a crew of 1400.

Despite her high-sides and slightly blocky appearance, Britannia is a relatively handsome, well-balanced ship, and she certainly made an impression on the Bergen waterfront whilst she was alongside.
