Helping to fill out the A-Z of cruise ships, Zuiderdam made her first call of the season to Bergen today.
Entering service for Holland America in 2002, Zuiderdam was the first of the vista class ships, which include (along with her 3 sister ships in the Holland America fleet) P&O's Arcadia and Cunard's Queen Victoria & Queen Elizabeth. These are an attractive class of ship, with clean lines and nicely balanced, if angular, profiles.
Zuiderdam has a length of 291m, a tonnage of 82,000, and can accommodate up to 2,272 passengers and a crew of 842.
I photograped her as she passed the Bergen-Askøy ferry this morning on her way in to town, and again from the Askøy bridge during her departure this afternoon.
